Choosing a Domain name is one
of the most important items you can do. When choosing a
domain name, think about type of user you wish to attract, the
service or product you are planning on providing and come up
with a list of keywords.
Once you have 5 or 10
potential keyword that fit the above criteria, I would suggest
going to a keyword tool, like Imeye, keyword competitor, spyfu,
etc and check to see how often the keyword is searched for.
You are looking for a keyword phase that has maximum searches
with the lowest number of competitors. I usually take all
keywords with over 3,000 searches per month, then divide the
number by the number of competing sites. The biggest
results are the ones that have the greatest potential to rank
well in.
Once you know the best
keyword, you need to try and register a domain that uses that
keyword as the entire domain or as part of the domain if the
specific keyword is already reserved.
and
Godaddy have a search bar where you can search to see if the
domain is taken (and register it on the spot if it is not) and
they provide a list of alternates if the exact domain you
searched for is not available. In any case, once you find
a good domain name choice, register it immediately before
someone else does! Good domain names go fast!
